Early Life

Shiara (Shee-ARE-ah) is a fire-witch that can't use her powers all of the time, but unpredictably. A group of Wizards came to her hometown, grabbed her and put her in a circle. They wanted to use her at a test dummy to see what spells would work of fire-witches, but she refused. They said that she didn't have a choice, so she burnt the Head Wizard's staff, she ran away before they could decide what to do to her. She made her way into the Enchanted Forest, only to get trapped inside a circle hedge.

Talking to Dragons

Daystar finds her trapped inside of a circle hedge, crying. When she and Daystar touched his sword at the same time, they both experienced something. From that point on, she had to be polite, and mean it, for her powers to work. Being polite is difficult for fire-witches as they have short tempers, so this was a difficult thing for Shiara to deal with, but it became easier over time. When they meet Morwen, she gains a kitten that she names Nightwitch.

After Daystar rescued his father, Mendanbar said that it was his son's fault for her having to be polite. When they had touched the sword, her desire to be able to use her powers and Daystar's desire for her to be polite fused together so that she had to be polite to use her powers. Cimorene suggested that, until they found out how to reverse the spell, Shiara could stay with Kazul as her princess. Kazul, being the King of the Dragons, didn't need to have a princess, but no one argues with the king, so it seemed a fitting arrangement. As Cimorene put it, "Kazul will have no objection whatsoever to training the next Queen of the Enchanted Forest."
